- Summary:
- The requirements and methods of high temperature turbine blade air cooling are discussed. This qualitative discussion includes the application of various cooling methods to the separate blade elements and the integration of these methods into a balanced design. Analytical design methods utilizing experimentally derived data have provided high temperature turbine designs for commercial and military applications. Successful results of cyclic and steady state endurance testing in component rigs and in engines has substantiated the reliability of these turbine designs
