Each of them is a complete and fully defined system suitable for sophisticated use. The metric system is the simpler of the two and is more coherent.The existence of two measuring systems is a serious handicap to essential world communications. More serious is the resulting difference in standard sizes, which provides an effective barrier to free exchange of goods and design.
