- Physical Description:
- 1 online resource
- Place of Publication:
- Warrendale, PA SAE International 1962
- Summary:
- Certain recently discovered aspects of engine valve corrosion are discussed in relation to the useful developments of preceding years. A novel method of corrosion testing is described in quantitative terms which offers certain advantages: (1) the corrosion environment, while subject to laboratory control in fine detail, also reproduces the significant corrosion characteristics of engine service; (2) duplicability of test results is excellent from one test to another; and (3) together with previously determined physical factors in engine valve design, the corrosion test method described offers an important parameter for more rapid development of successful valve prototypes
