- Summary:
- I. AbstractOptimum design studies of structural members are presented to determine how higher strength steels can be used to their greatest advantage. In addition to the yield points and the modulus of elasticity, the prices of the different steels are found to influence the proportioning of some structural members. The results of the investigations show that the weight savings obtained with higher strength steels are in many instances accompanied by significant material-cost savings
