Summary:
Controllable pitch propellers have been installed on two diesel powered ore ships for the St. Lawrence Seaway, international trade. The propellers have been found to be reliable, rugged, and have provided several advantages: ability to operate continuously on residual fuels, less wear on engine, better vessel control, no greater maintenance and easier repair than fixed pitch propellers, and high operating efficiency
