- Summary:
- Conformal transformation analysis is used to define the potential flow variation along the walls of two-dimensional offset diffusers. The incompressible flow parameters are converted to compressible parameters by the Karman-Tsien approximation. The compressible velocity versus distance data from the transformation theory define the pressure gradients experienced by turbulent boundary layers along these walls. Solutions of the momentum and energy equations define the boundary layer separation characteristics.Experimental water table studies of two offset diffuser models designed to produce separated and nonseparated flows, respectively, have been accomplished. The test results provide a preliminary substantiation of the theory
