- Summary:
- An 18 month portion of a program of test and evaluation of tensile properties of tungsten between room temperature and 4400 F is described.Phase I testing of tungsten sheet was conducted to determine quality level of available material. A material specification was written based on test results for tensile strength, bend ductility, chemical purity, hardness, microstructure, and overall quality. Phase II testing consisted of tensile tests on sheet material produced from three powder lots from each of five producers who supplied material. Plastic elongation up to 1.5% was displayed at room temperature. Correlation between room temperature hardness and tensile strength was shown
