Summary:
AbstractDesign and performance information as well as results of tests carried out with Burmeister and Wain-Alpha Diesel controllable-pitch propellers are presented. Mentioned are the value of the expression kg/bhp as measurement of tow-rope pull, dimensioning of controllable-pitch propellers, the significance of pitch ratio, as well as wake and thrust deduction for the pull obtainable.A method is stated for calculation of the blade turning moment and the components of which it consists, also when considering the influence of cavitation. The design of controllable-pitch propellers and the reversing and coupling cylinders for B and W Alpha Diesel engines is also shown
