THIS symposium describes in detail the air-suspension systems available on the 1958 models of the Pontiac, Cadillac, and Edsel. The Pontiac is a modified closed cycle system, comprising an air compressor, air tank, height control valves, and air springs. The Cadillac system employs leveling valves, compressor, high-pressure check valve, high-pressure storage tank, and flow control orifices. The Edsel design is made up of the air supply, control, and spring systems, which incorporate a compressor, reserve air tank, leveling valves, and air springs.Air suspension is not a new idea in springing automobiles, but the recent trend toward lower cars has renewed interest in the potentials of the method
