- Summary:
- THIS PAPER outlines the corrections to the SAE Diesel Engine Test Code approved by the SAE Technical Board. The basic correction method is the constant air/fuel ratio method. This method is intended to determine the output under standard conditions when the fuel rate is adjusted to maintain equivalent combustion conditions or exhaust smoke density. The method is based on the assumptions that the following exist at test and standard conditions: constant volumetric efficiency, constant combustion efficiency at a given air/fuel ratio, same friction horsepower at test and standard conditions.*
