SUMMARYThis paper presents a reliability and maintainability program which is calculated to assure the highest practical degree of weapon system effectiveness. The consequence of changes in equipment reliability and maintainability on total effectiveness is shown. These two parameters are related to certain other parameters and their interactions are presented. Methods of predicting and, hence, controlling them are discussed to show how a program can be carried through to a successful conclusion. The program is one that was developed for the F-108 and the B-70 Weapon System Programs by the Los Angeles Division of North American Aviation
