Summary:
Ethylene-propylene rubber has outstanding ability to withstand ozone, weather, heat, chemicals, low temperatures, flexing, and abrasion. This should assure that it will meet the automotive challenge for new materials to improve automotive performance, durability, appearance, and economy. Part of the desirable properties, as well as some of the difficulty in establishing this new elastomer, have been due to the peroxide vulcanization required. Recent compounding advances have improved curing conditions, reduced or eliminated residual odor, and imparted flame and oil resistance. Improved light colored stocks have also been developed
