- Summary:
- Cyclic testing introduces large thermal variations, structural loadings, and certain acceleration loadings which do not exist in constant speed, full load testing of Diesel Engines.Certain kinds of parts failure can be accelerated by frequent and drastic changes of test loads and speeds in a durability test cycle specified after an analysis of a field installation where trouble is occurring. Laboratory type instrumentation is becoming increasingly important in analyzing what an engine in the field is called upon to do. Some practical test cycles and results are discussed
