Summary:
The major trend in diesel engine design is greater engine horse power without an increase in size of the more powerful engine obtained by increases of speed and torque. This trend is found in all the various engine fields or markets including automotive equipment, marine propulsion, and electric power generation. An actual decrease in the size and weight for comparable horsepower is obtained in the White V-106 engine. This two-cycle, loop scavenged, compact basic engine weighs 6.4lb per horsepower. Installation of the engine in a truck is described. Simplified design results in fewer wearing parts covering a larger horse power and engine size range
