Summary:
Increasing complexity of electronic engine control systems has resulted in a significant need for cost effective pressure transducers which can cope with the total automotive environment. This presentation deals with the design and application of such a transducer. While it was developed primarily for use as a manifold vacuum sensor, it can readily be used as a barometric sensor, altimeter, or for other applications requiring accurate measurement of fluid pressures. The sensor's accuracy, ruggedness, and low cost make it an ideal match for the requirements of the electronic engine control systems being considered by most automobile manufacturers
