The widespread problems of gasoline availability have caused motorists to take new interest in the fuel economy of their cars and in gasoline conservation methods. As a means of illustrating a variety of effective fuel saving techniques, reference is made to the performance of four cars that have achieved outstanding fuel mileage (150-376 miles/gal) during competition in Shell Mileage Marathon contests.
