Summary:
The author reviews earthmoving as it took place in Texas from the 1920s to today. He recounts early highway and railroad development, where much of the work was done by a combination of horses or mules and machinery. Equipment introduced in the 1930s included diesel engines for tractors, power shovels, bulldozers, and carryall scrapers. The 1940s saw the advent of the first pneumatic tired scrapers and tractors in Texas. Post-World War II has seen bigger and better equipment, with new machinery being developed each year
