Summary:

Four years ago the engineering department of Pegaso was faced with the need to develop a completely new line of trucks, with a gvw range of 13-44 tons and having a maximum interchangeability of parts so that customer requirements and export market regulations could be met with least cost and yearly production of 15,000-25,000 vehicles. This paper describes profile and frame designs and also those of new engines, axles, and cabs. The new designs incorporate many of the features that have proved satisfactory in other applications such as marine and industrial engines and construction equipment. Experimental data and statistical results of the first year's production are presented
