A Wheel Slide Protection system is considered in which a hydraulic power source is used to modulate braking effort at each wheel of a vehicle. The reasons for selecting this type of power source are discussed, together with other parameters employed in the design of the system.System operation is described with particular emphasis on the functioning of the hydraulic actuators and their response to electrical control signals.Evaluation has been carried out on different vehicles over a wide range of surfaces.
