- Summary:
- Improvements in the rear lighting and signaling systems on motor vehicles are warranted to aid in the reduction of rear end collisions. Reports on recent research indicate general agreement on fundamental changes such as separation of function and redundant signaling code; however, there are several controversial areas such as the color of the lamps. Many of the serious disadvantages of the current systems may be resolved by relatively minor revisions. Other major revisions can therefore be deferred until they have been thoroughly substantiated by later research
