The future of travel and the automobile is discussed, including the competition among various modes of travel and between travel and electronics for communicating. Some new ideas about future automobiles, a freeway express transit, and an automated urban local transportation utility are presented, and an interpretation is made about the possible future role of the automobile.NOTE: Any views expressed in this paper are those of the author.
