Summary:
This paper discusses a new tool for the design engineer -- the structural "net casting" concept. An industry has been developed to produce cast hardware rather than raw material to be used in hardware manufacturing. Evolution in engineering techniques has enabled the development of economical methods to produce metallurgically sound castings that are dimensionally accurate and which demonstrate high structural integrity. This tool must be used to maintain a competitive corporate image
