- Summary:
- This article introduces a new method for determining the heat transfer coefficient for internal combustion engines. From the laws of similarity governing convective heat transfer, the author has derived an equation containing two convective terms, one of which takes into account the pistonmotion and the other the convection due to combustion. These terms, expressed as constants, relate fluid flow conditions during the scavenging periods and take into consideration the type of combustion system. The result is a universally applicable equation designed for evaluating heat transfer coefficients
