This paper examines the power control system requirements of small industrial gas turbines of free turbine design. Among the known needs of present engines are closed loop turbine inlet temperature control, compressor surge detection, and power limiting. Discussion of preliminary concepts and studies is presented as a challenge to the accessory manufacturer to develop improved, lower cost systems for future engines
