Summary:
RESULTS of an investigation of operating a four-cycle 3 x 4-inches single-cylinder engine, using constant compression at all throttle settings, were published previously by the author, who now presents the data obtained from a continuation of the experimental work. Typical indicator-diagrams and curves are shown and commented upon, and comparisons of performance are made. The relative performance of a car fitted with an engine operating under the various conditions is discussed and, in conclusion, the statement is made that active experimentation along the line of increasing fuel-economy is warranted because the possible aggregate savings to owners would be very great and consideration of the possible conservation of our visible petroleum stock would be of vast importance
