Summary:
A low-cost communication system, based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol, for overall electronics management in a high-end motor-scooter has been designed. The system consists of a single 1 Mb/s CAN network and is designed for PIAGGIO X9 500 vehicle, though it can be easily adapted to any other two-wheel vehicle. The solution presented drastically reduces assembling cost, significantly increases the system reliability and makes the vehicle upgrades very fast and easy. Particular care has been adopted in satisfying safety issues and in minimizing the power dissipation
