Summary:
As an objective of its High Performance Computing (HPC) Center, TACOM-TARDEC is using centralized computational and visualization resources to streamline its modeling and simulation efforts. A truly unique environment has been created to enhance TACOM's design review process, taking our methodologies to new levels while opening the possibilities to future advancements in simulation techniques. To effectively model and visualize concepts involved with the army transformation in real-time using high-resolution imagery, the computing and graphics hardware necessary typically must be located within 100 feet (the maximum recommended cabling distance before signal degradation) of the display device. The TARDEC HPC Team has created a "remote" scientific visualization capability that allows the use of the HPC assets to generate output for display devices located up to two miles away. The focus of this paper is on the unique infrastructure necessary to achieve this remote display of high-resolution computer graphics for the modeling and visualization of the army transformation
