- Summary:
- The attached paper presents a heat exchanger project for ethanol vaporization to fuel an Otto cycle engine. The necessary energy is recovered from the exhaust gases. To calculate the heat exchanger, temperature and mass flow of the exhaust gases are considered, mainly in the low charge range when the heat transfer is also low. For engine applications, it is necessary to reduce its size through the use of fins. The mathematic modeling results show that heat exchanger vaporizes completely the ethanol fuel in both, low and high load operations. For the last, the exhaust gas mass must be partially utilized
