- Summary:
- The design and performance of an active damping device is described, which comprises a bi-directional DC-DC converter with capacitive energy storage. The operation of the device is examined in a simple DC system comprising an infinite bandwidth constant power load and an undamped, second-order source impedance. Averaging and small-signal linearisation techniques are used to explain the system operation and illustrate the selection of control system parameters and power components. The overall system operation is demonstrated using a simulink simulation
