Summary:
One of the objectives of the Atena project was the definition ofmethods for the predictive evaluation of the environmental impactof different types of vehicles used in an urban scenario. Thetarget is to obtain a methodology that allows the decision maker toverify in simulation the effects of possible measures like the lawenforcement to the access restrictions or vehicle fleetcomposition. The main obstacle is the realization and managing ofreal driving cycles in order to overtake the limits derived fromthe utilization of typical cycles (id est, ECE + EUDC) or the simpleconsideration of average speed. The starting point is a digital representation of the urbannetwork where all the roads are represented with one or more arcsand for all these arcs are available an estimation of the trafficvariables like the vehicle flow (vehicles per hour) or the averagespeed (kph). Every arc is described in terms of traffic parameterslike the type of road (id est, highway, district road). The resultspresented in this work will be a contribution for the definition ofa methodology able to describe the emissions of vehicles fleets interms of traffic and vehicle parameters
