- Summary:
- Road load simulation in the laboratory is a well established technique for accelerated durability evaluation. Limited information is available on road load simulation of two wheelers. Unlike four wheelers, two wheelers are unstable in standing condition posing a lot of difficulty in holding vehicle in laboratory simulation. Thus the success of simulation is largely dependent upon design of vehicle restraint system. This paper summarises the successful design and development of vehicle restraint system. The effect of human damping (rider loading) at the handlebar on structural durability was evaluated. Special handlebar restraint system was developed to simulate human damping effect. The exercise helped in improving simulation accuracy, evaluating human damping effect and simulating handlebar failures on road/test track trials in case of prototype vehicles
