Summary:
Pressure sensitive adhesives are used on a large number of automotive applications. The application can be anywhere on the vehicle - interior, exterior, or under the hood. PSA's can be rubber, acrylic, or silicone based. Acrylic-based formulations are the most common, based on cost, durability, and weathering resistance. PSA tapes come in different forms - transfer tape, single coated, double coated, and double coated foam. Double-coated foam tapes can fill gaps and some foam chemistries can relieve bond stress. PSA's are used to bond both similar and dissimilar materials, and can be formulated to bond to low surface energy plastics
