- Summary:
- The abnormal situation of exhaust emissions from the two- and three wheelers powered by small two-stroke engines in India and the emission regulations according to the Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) to control the atmospheric pollution from these sources are described. Constant Volume Sampling (CVS) test facilities using a chassis dynamometer will be expensive for many agencies which are required to estimate the mass emissions on a realistic basis. This paper describes a simulation model to infer the mass emissions per km drive on the IDC, using the static performance results of the engine tested on the laboratory dynamometer facility. The simulated test-bed results are found to compare reasonably with those obtained on the vehicle fitted with a similar engine on the chassis dynamometer using the CVS system
