Summary:
The purpose of the Institute of Machine Design and Automotive Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany is to carry out power train engineering as a closed process by means of modern design methodology. Because vehicles become more and more complex and the interaction of their different sub-systems is increasing, the integrated consideration of the complete system, sub-systems, parts and elements is one precondition in order to achieve a product development process that is as optimal as possible. An integrated development method in addition to real drive situations in road traffic contains experiments and simulations. In this article, a part of the integrated development method and environment of the institute is introduced. Using the Dual Mass Flywheel as an example, the practicality of the integrated method is proven
