- Summary:
- The effect of gasoline composition, oil composition and catalytic converters on the emissions of 2-stroke chain saws was demonstrated. Measurements were made in a laboratory test bench and in working conditions. The samples were collected constantly from the breathing zone of the worker and from the surface of one's clothing. In addition to this, the specimens of blood and urine taken after working day were analyzed. A non-aromatic alkylate gasoline produced significantly lower amount of noxious emissions compared to standard gasoline. The exposure to aromatic and PAH emissions were remarkably reduced. This progress was further promoted by oxygenate addition to alkylate gasoline. The catalytic converter was found active on hydrocarbons, especially PAHs
