Summary:

Manufacturers are forced to reduce the time-to-market and time-to-customer of their products. At the same time the market requires shorter product life cycles (Milberg 1994). To meet these challenges manufacturers must speed up the planning process. At the same time to ensure a high ergonomic quality of production processes it is important to consider ergonomic aspects early in the planning process (Bubb and Bubb 1996). E-Manufacturing is the answer to cope with these requirements. It enables a short and effective planning and engineering process by an e-Manufacturing server which contains all the relevant planning data. Ergonomic knowledge and best practices can be captured and reused for modeling all over the extended enterprise. E-Manufacturing also has an enormous impact on the human modeling itself enabling the user to save predefined moving sequences as attachment to the work operations in a corporate planning database
