A parallel hybrid drive train, consisting of a downsized IC-engine, an automated gearbox and an electric motor is being designed at the University of Liege and Breuer Technical Development, Belgium.Objectives of the concept are the reduction of CO2 emissions without performances loss and a zero-emission driving mode in inner cities. The battery can be connected to the mains for recharging.This paper presents the original management strategy that minimizes CO2 emissions over the complete energy supply, from well to wheel. Metropol, a homemade software, simulates energy consumption and emissions on different driving cycles
