Summary:

The solid waste management is one of the biggest problem of the modern society and the disposal of used tires is an important part of the problem. This paper presents a laboratory and field evaluation of asphalt mixtures containing recycled tires. The results show that the use of rubber tires in asphalt paving is not a panacea but can really contribute to the solution of serious environmental problems and, at the same time, increase some engineering properties of asphalt mixtures
