- Summary:
- Stringent exhaust emission standards warrant the integration of a Real-Time Catalytic Converter Temperature Estimator in the powertrain controller. This assessment includes the development, design, and validation of a physical model of the thermodynamic qualities for an automotive gasoline multi-port fuel-injected engine three-way catalyst. It yields a one-dimensional meshed model able to accurately predict converter temperature distribution and conversion efficiency within fifty degrees Celsius steady state (for every catalyst) as demonstrated on the Model 163 North American Trapezoidal converter application
