- Summary:
- Milling of turbine engine compressors is very complicated due to tight part tolerances, high flexibility of tool and part, large cutting forces and low machinability of titanium alloys. Cutting feedrates are limited due to high cutting forces resulting from deep immersions. Milling cycle times can be reduced using milling force modeling which is presented in this paper. Application of a simplified force model is demonstrated through several examples
