Summary:
Due to the uncertain future of leaded aviation gasoline, it is appropriate to consider development of alternative fuels. An ethanol-based fuel has been developed that exhibits many desirable properties similar to avgas. In addition, it also demonstrates better anti-detonation characteristics that lead to enhanced safety. The fuel, known as Aviation Grade Ethanol 85, has been supplementally type certificated.
