Summary:
The emerging Information and Communication Technologies in the past years were the reason for a tremendous discussion of the logistic processes. As a result, the concept of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) was developed during this decade. One important issue in SCM is the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a basis for new ways of co-operation within supply chains. The description of re-engineering case studies in the automotive supply chain provides interesting insights about new production philosophies in the European Automotive industry. This case study was conducted in the European Research project AIT Implant (AIT = Advance Information Technology) and shows the dynamic effects of SCM
