- Summary:
- We have developed long-life of Ni/MH and of Li-ion batteries for use as a backup power supply for telecommunications. The improved Ni/MH batteries have an expanded operating temperature range and can last about 2.4 years at 25°C, much longer than conventional batteries. We then adapted the intermittent-pulse charging method to further extend the target lifetime to 10 years at 25°C. We are also developing long-life Li-ion batteries that can last 3.5 years or longer at 25°C
