- Summary:
- The climate comfort of the passenger compartment of cars and commercial vehicles can be increased considerably compared to given levels, by an air condition which is independent of the engine. When this type of air condition is used, the interior of cars can be cooled to a comfortable temperature or the air condition can be maintained during short rests. The same is true for commercial vehicles. In this case the cabin is a working area, a resting- and sleeping area at the same time and so in addition non-idling air condition with a longer duration is required. Available systems are discussed and evaluated. The most promising system is the latent cooling battery technology. Prototypes of this system, its technology, requirements, constructions and test results are presented
