Summary:
An Oxygen Generation System (OGS) is an indispensable system for a long manned space mission and water electrolysis technology is considered to be suitable for space applications. The authors have been studying OGS concerning a new proton exchange membrane and cathode liquid feed electrolytic cell. Progress is reported on the performance of the electrolytic cell at ambient pressure as well as the development of a high pressurized-cell module up to 10 atm. A 30,000 hour-endurance test at ambient pressure has demonstrated that the cathode liquid feed cell with the new membrane can generate the required oxygen
