Summary:
This paper describes the development of a PC-based system, which simulates an automotive environment for Electronic Fuel Injection Control Units (EFI's) and that is also capable of logging data that results from their functioning in a real vehicle. The main targeted application for the simulator is the design of EFIs, but it can also be used as a valuable test equipment for diagnostics and maintenance of electronic fuel injection systems by dispensing with the construction of application-specific manual simulators. The conceived system comprises configurable data-acquisition boards that feature input and output of both analog and digital signals at a sampling rate higher than 100KS/s; software written in a graphical programming environment (LabView) and a set of real loads including fuel injectors, stepper motor, ignition coil, etcThe system allows a flexible and accurate control of several parameters of the simulated environment and evaluates the EFI performance effectively
