- Summary:
- In today's automotive industry, the reduction of vibration and noise in all vehicle components is essential to align with the market trend towards quieter interiors within vehicles. Specifically, this paper focuses on the fuel supply module, responsible for delivering fuel to combustion engines across various applications at the correct system pressure. As a rotating machinery product, inherent vibration is present in its functionality. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the sources of vibration and minimize them to prevent transmission to the vehicle body. This paper discusses and presents experimental results of a design change aimed at reducing vibration transmission from the fuel supply module by modifying the rubber support within the product. Beginning with an analytical model to establish the cause-effect relationship between dynamic machinery and its support in vibration phenomena, the study implements changes to the actual product and conducts tests in fuel tank applications. The goal is to reduce vibrations transferred from the source to the target through design proposals. Following prototype tests, the paper concludes that vibration measurements of rotating machinery can be reduced by altering the design of its rubber support
