Summary:
The work described in this paper has been initiated to develop a technique for estimating damping value of hydraulic shock absorbers when the design parameters are given. To develop such a technique, bond graph is utilized to facilitate integration of many different elements constituting a shock absorber such as fluid flow through orifice, cavitations, leakage through gap between piston and cylinder, non linear flow resistant, coulomb friction, cylinder elasticity, mass of moving parts et cetera SIMULINK is then employed to carry out the calculation. Results demonstrate that, bond graphs formulation can be utilized to predict dynamic response of shock absorbers under various inputs
