- Summary:
- The results obtained with Loop and Cross scavenged systems reveal that during early charging period the scavenged through losses are more in loop scavenged system in comparison to cross scavenged and in later part both shows considerable improvement still the probability of trapping of charge in cross scavenged are higher. Therefore stratification of charge helps in reducing the loss of fuel in both the system. But in case of cross scavenged system due to better trapping characteristics throughout the scavenging process leads to improved combustion too. Cross scavenged system employed with dual intake system shows reduction in fuel of the order of 26% and 29.7% for 40% and 50% flow through AASL, whereas, loop scavenged system shows 12.85% and 14.4% for the same flow through AASL
