- Summary:
- The design objectives of a vehicle's powertrain are to improve performance, fuel economy, drivability and reliability. It depends on many factors to realize them, such as high performance engine, efficient and reliable powertrain, good match between the engine characteristic and powertrain parameters [1] [2]. This paper presents a dynamic model for an automotive powertrain based on Advanced Modeling Environment for Performing Simulation of Engineering System (AMESim). The results show good agreement of the powertrain model behavior with testbed acquisitions for a large amount of engine steady state set points and under transient operating conditions. The model preserves the genetic nature of modeling so that the developed technique can be easily adapted to different vehicles with a minimum amount of bench tests for obtaining parameters. It is well suited for dynamic behavior analysis, prediction, design and parameters match optimization of the powertrain system
